Calf Implants
Calf Implants
The
calf implant procedure makes use of silicone prosthesis in order to increase the volume of the calves. The
calf implant procedure is simple, done under general anesthesia or eperidural anesthesia associated with assisted sedation. In about 2 weeks, the patient can already walk around.
During the consultation, you can discuss with doctor about the changes you would like to make in your appearance. He/she will explain the different options available to you, the
calf implant procedure itself, its risks, limitations and costs.
It is important that you tell your surgeon if you are prone to heavy scarring, such as keloids. Be sure to ask all the questions you have about the surgery, and ask to see photos of the doctor's recent patients, before and after surgery.
During the
calf imlpant procedure, an incision is made below the crease behind the knee. In this position, any scar that remains after the surgery will most likely be well concealed; however the scar will be visible to someone who looks for it. The
calf implant is inserted, and the incision is closed with sutures (stitches).
The length of the
calf implant procedure varies, but generally takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour per side. If the the
calf implant procedure is done with a local anesthetic supplemented by a light sedative, the pain experienced is minimal, although you may feel pressure or movement. More sedation will further reduce sensations, and general anesthesia will eliminate all sensation during the the
calf implant procedure.
Immediately following the
calf implant surgery the calves may feel stiff and sore. There is little discomfort associated the incisions because they are small. Medication and ice packs may be used in the first few days to reduce discomfort and swelling. However, some swelling and bruising is to be expected.
It is advisable to rest the legs and keep them elevated during the week following the
calf implant surgery. As walking begins, there is some discomfort. It is very important to keep the legs clean in order to prevent infection. It is important to follow all of your doctor's instructions to prevent complications.
Normal physical activities may be resumed a few days after the
calf implant surgery. However, in order to allow the body time to heal, vigorous activities such as exercise should be delayed until about six weeks after the
calf imlpant surgery. Ask your doctor for more information about your particular situation.
Liposuction of knees and ankles
Liposuction of the knees and ankles is a procedure destined to remove localized fat from the knees or ankles through Liposuction. The liposuction of the knees and ankles procedure is simple, done under general anesthesia or peridural anesthesia associated with assisted sedation. The patient can walk around the following day. The bruising tends to disappear 2 weeks after the
liposuction of the knees and ankles surgery.
More women than men seem to be interested in having
liposuction of the knees-probably because women tend to have fat deposits around the knee that give them a chubby appearance. When women patients describe the kind of ideal knees they hope to have after
liposuction of the knees and ankle surgery, their descriptions often match the contour of the leaner knee. They would like to have the knee cap and the front structures of the knee defined more sharply.
